Lagos State has actively participated in the global commemoration of the International Day for Poverty Eradication.
The state government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), has undertaken a significant initiative, empowering approximately 65,000 households with an array of startup resources, financial assistance, and essential skills, fostering self-reliance.

During the event organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to mark this occasion, Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, addressed the audience.
She emphasized the relevance of this year’s theme, “DECENT WORK AND SOCIAL PROTECTION: PUTTING DIGNITY IN PRACTICE FOR ALL,” in addressing unemployment issues.
The commissioner highlighted the importance of empowerment programs and activities aimed at reducing poverty rates among women, girls, and youths in the state.
