In an exciting development for the Nigerian and African theatre scene, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially launched the Lagos International Theatre Festival (LITF) at an event held at the Lagos House, Marina, this evening. The announcement was made in the presence of key stakeholders in the Nigerian theatre community.

Set to take place from November 14th to 17th, 2024, the Lagos International Theatre Festival will provide a significant platform for both local and international artists to showcase their talents. The festival aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Nigerian and African theatre while promoting the arts on a global scale.


Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized his administration’s commitment to investing in the creative industry, which he believes will act as a catalyst for economic growth, social and behavioral change, and a major tool for improving Nigeria’s global image.

He reiterated that supporting the creative sector aligns with Lagos State’s vision for sustainable development and innovation, positioning the city as a leader in promoting the arts in Africa.
