The Lagos State Government has launched a financial inclusion programme targeting women in underserved communities, aimed at bolstering financial literacy and empowerment.
Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih, highlighted the state’s commitment to promoting women’s financial independence through this initiative.
Speaking at the flag-off in Iwaya Community, Yaba, Dr. Finnih stated, “The sensitisation programme is about financial inclusion for women.
We are empowering them with knowledge on handling funds, pricing goods, and maximizing growth opportunities.” She emphasized the importance of understanding financial management, noting that true empowerment extends beyond monetary aid.

His Royal Majesty Oba Suleiman Owolabi Ogun Oloko, Olu of Iwaya Yaba Kingdom, endorsed the initiative, urging continuous support from the government and private sector for vulnerable residents.
The programme, conducted in partnership with development organizations, trained 100 women, equipping them with essential financial skills. Participants expressed gratitude for the state’s efforts in bringing such valuable resources to their community.
