The Lagos State Government has reduced the cost of transportation for all state-owned transportation networks by 50% in an effort to ease the effects of the loss of fuel subsidies.
The state’s vulnerable citizens would also get food distribution from the government and health care services will be made affordable to families.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the state government is working toward implementing these palliatives to minimize the suffering that the withdrawal of subsidy has caused the population.
The governor continued by saying that arrangements had also been made for the informal transportation industry, particularly the yellow buses, to reduce costs by 25%.
The governor stated that starting on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the government will cut transportation prices by 50%.

A few passengers at the bus station were approached by our researchers to gauge their reactions to the news of the reduction in transportation costs.
“The Lagos state government will be doing us a big favor if the transportation prices can be reduced,” a marketer named Mr. Oluwole remarked.
Another business owner, Ms. Catherine Musa, stated, “My shop is at Idumota Market, and I spend money on transportation every day and it is uncomfortable. If the governor can do this for us, it will relieve us a little.”
