In a move to enforce urban order and environmental regulations, the Lagos State Government has directed traders occupying road medians from Ebute-Ero to Oja Oba in Lagos Island to vacate immediately or face enforcement measures.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the directive, stressing that the decision aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness, security, and structured business operations.
He warned that illegal trading on road medians poses serious risks to public safety and disrupts urban development efforts.

The state government has been intensifying efforts to reclaim public spaces, clear illegal structures, and enforce environmental laws to create a more organized business environment.
Enforcement teams are set to take action once the ultimatum expires, reinforcing the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on unauthorized trading in public spaces.
This move signals a broader crackdown on informal trading in unauthorized locations, urging small business owners to seek designated markets for legal and structured operations.
