In a move to drive food security and economic growth, residents of Iwaya, Lagos, have received training on sustainable farming and agro-business opportunities.
The training, held at the Olu of Iwaya’s palace, aimed to empower locals to use agriculture as a viable income source.
Agricultural experts shared practical insights into small-scale farming, livestock rearing, and the agro-value chain.
They emphasized the need for individual action in tackling food insecurity and encouraged participants to explore farming even on limited land.

“You don’t need a plot of land to make an impact. By marketing farm products, you can earn income and help mitigate poverty,” an expert noted, urging residents to join the agricultural sector as marketers, producers, or distributors.
Residents left inspired, with many planning to start balcony farms and small agro-business ventures.
“I’m ready to turn my balcony into a food source for my family,” shared a participant, echoing the community’s renewed commitment to agro-business initiatives.
