The Lagos State Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, called on young people to leverage technology skills for a brighter future.
This appeal was made during the launch of the Lagos State Upskill Programme for youths, in partnership with GFA Technologies and WEMA Bank.
Speaking at the ministry’s conference room in Alausa, Ikeja, Ogunlende highlighted the program’s goal to equip youths with practical training in the latest technologies and provide mentorship from industry experts. “This initiative offers hands-on training, industry mentorship, and the chance to work on real-world projects,” Ogunlende stated.
He emphasized the program’s broader benefits, including fostering creativity, innovation, and resilience among participants. “Take full advantage of this opportunity. Be curious, proactive, and collaborative. The skills you gain here will be vital in building a brighter future for yourselves and the community,” he urged the youths.

In a related effort to combat unemployment, Abdul-Hamed Salawu, Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area, collaborated with Somolu Tech Innovation and the start-up firm Tech Shepherd in March to organize the second edition of free ICT training for youths in Somolu.
These initiatives underscore the commitment of Lagos State to empower its youth through technology, aiming to create a skilled workforce capable of addressing future challenges.
