In a pioneering move for Nigeria’s entertainment industry, Sugar Factory Film Studio in Kwara will debut the ‘Dancinematic Universe’ this October. This innovative series blends the energy of music videos with the narrative depth of feature films through creative dance storytelling.
The first project in the fictional universe, titled ‘The Big Bang’, will also introduce transmedia storytelling, a method of immersive world-building, to Nigeria’s creative space. This approach, modeled on international franchises like The Boys and Deadpool, is being touted as a major leap for the local industry, according to Tunde Ayinla, the studio’s Creative Director, known professionally as StylSlayer.
“The Dancinematic Universe is an entirely new venture in Nigeria, merging creative storytelling with branded content and product placement,” said Ayinla. He described the project as a significant opportunity for intellectual properties and brands to connect with audiences in new ways.

The launch follows Kwara’s recent win of the 2024 BON Awards hosting rights, which will bring hundreds of industry professionals to the state. The event will take place at the iconic Sugar Factory Film Studios, a key initiative of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration.
‘The Big Bang’, a short musical fantasy film, explores themes of hope and creativity through a combination of dance, music, and cinema. It is expected to draw attention from diverse audiences across Nigeria.
Ayinla noted that the Dancinematic Universe is projected to generate N5.4bn in revenue at its peak and will create thousands of jobs, particularly for young people in Kwara’s creative sector.
