In a bold push to boost agricultural productivity, the 16 local governments in Kwara State have acquired 32 new tractors, each equipped with essential farming tools like ploughs, ridges, harrows, and trailers. Unveiled in Ilorin, these tractors are set to empower grassroots farmers by providing much-needed mechanized support.
Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Abubakar Bata, highlighted the importance of the tractors at the unveiling ceremony.
He noted that better funding allocations enabled the local councils to make this investment, signaling a strong commitment to agricultural development.

“The decision to purchase these tractors is thoughtful and reinforces Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s stance on transparent local council funds management,” Bata remarked.
He also urged local councils to ensure the tractors are effectively utilized to boost agricultural activities across the state.
This initiative is part of Kwara State’s broader strategy to stimulate economic growth by enhancing food production and complementing the government’s extensive investments in agriculture.
