The Katsina State Government has distributed dry season agricultural equipment worth over ₦8.28 billion to farmers across its 34 local government areas at subsidized rates.
Governor Dikko Radda announced this on Monday during the launch at the People’s Square, Muhammadu Buhari House, Katsina. The distribution includes 4,000 hand power tillers, 4,000 solar-powered water pumps, and 48,000 bags of fertilizer.
Governor Radda highlighted the success of the 2024 cropping season, marked by a bumper harvest, as a testament to the administration’s commitment to food security. He emphasized agriculture as the backbone of the state’s economy, fostering GDP growth, employment, and rural development.

The governor also noted strategic collaborations with partners like NG-CARES, IFAD-VCN, and AfDB-SAPZII, which have bolstered agricultural investment, agro-processing, and financial inclusion.
Radda recalled the 2023 dry season farming program, which supported 2,040 farmers with boreholes, fertilizers, and other inputs for cultivating crops such as tomatoes, onions, and watermelon. The initiative aims to further enhance productivity and improve livelihoods statewide.
