Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved the merger and transfer of six Community Skill Development Centres (COSDEC) and Business Apprenticeship Training Centres (BATC) to operate under the coordination framework of the Katsina Youth Craft Village (KYCV), in a move aimed at strengthening skills acquisition and youth-led enterprise development across the state.

The affected centres are located in Katsina, Mani, Daura, Dutsinma, Malumfashi and Funtua. The decision aligns with the administration’s broader push to deepen practical, market-relevant skills training that supports employment, self-reliance and small business creation.

Governor Radda described the move as a strategic intervention to consolidate existing training initiatives, promote uniform standards and improve efficiency in delivering vocational and technical programmes. Under the unified framework, curriculum delivery, certification, monitoring and outcomes measurement will be standardised statewide.

According to the governor, integrating COSDEC and BATC under KYCV will expand access to quality, demand-driven skills for young people across the three senatorial zones, enhancing employability while encouraging self-employment and microenterprise growth. He said the approach mirrors global best practices where skills acquisition and entrepreneurship are key drivers of job creation and economic growth.

Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth-focused policies, noting that sustained investment in skills development is central to building a resilient and inclusive economy. He also commended the management of the Katsina Youth Craft Village and assured continued policy and institutional support to ensure the success of the unified framework.
