Kano State Governor, Kabir Yusuf, has officially commissioned the upgraded Dambatta International Cattle Market, a multi-million naira project executed in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank through the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project.
According to a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, the Dambatta market is one of five markets upgraded under the project, alongside Tsanyawa, Falgore, Doguwa, and Wudil.
The upgrades include loading ramps, water facilities, market information offices, security posts, veterinary services, public conveniences, and electricity for night-time trading.

Governor Yusuf highlighted that the initiative is aimed at modernizing the livestock value chain, particularly in transport logistics, to reduce mortality and ensure a healthier trading environment.
He noted that livestock trading is a significant economic activity in Kano, supporting millions and contributing to poverty reduction.
Jamilu Danbatta, the governor’s Special Adviser on Publicity, expressed the community’s gratitude, emphasizing the positive impact on local economic priorities.
