The Jigawa State Government has set its sights on becoming Nigeria’s leader in ease of doing business, aiming to surpass its second-place ranking from 2023.
Speaking at the conclusion of the three-day North-West subnational tour of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) in Katsina State, the Secretary and Legal Adviser of Jigawa State Investment Promotion Agency, Dr. Zakkiyu Muhammad, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to achieving this ambitious goal.
“Jigawa State is fully digitalized, ensuring seamless access to information for business purposes. From agriculture to commerce, our ministries have independent websites where investment details can be accessed,” Muhammad stated. “We also have a unified tax payment gateway to streamline financial transactions.”

He expressed confidence in the state’s ability to claim the top spot this year, urging stakeholders to “wait for the results.”
Dr. Muhammad highlighted the significance of the PEBEC subnational tour, which facilitated knowledge sharing and collaboration among states in the North-West region. “The tour allowed us to learn from each other, identifying areas for improvement and celebrating achievements,” he explained.
He emphasized that even states with lower rankings had opportunities to gain valuable insights to enhance their ease of doing business indicators.
Jigawa’s strategic focus on digital transformation and collaboration reflects its commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that attracts investments and fosters economic growth.
