President Bola Tinubu has approved a ₦150,000 grant for each business owner in Jigawa State, announced by Vice President Kashim Shettima on his official X handle. This initiative is part of Nigeria’s digital transformation strategy aimed at boosting the economy and technology sectors. Shettima revealed this at the launch of the AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training and Outsourcing Initiative in Dutse. He emphasized that Nigeria aims to lead globally in economic and technological advancements.
In addition to this, Shettima launched the 4th edition of the Expanded National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Clinic, highlighting the grant as the Federal Government’s support to MSMEs nationwide. The ₦150,000 grant is non-repayable, providing significant relief to business owners.

In a related development, the National Assembly swiftly passed the National Minimum Wage Act 2019 (Amendment Bill), increasing the minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000. Both legislative chambers approved the bill shortly after its transmission by President Tinubu. The President also proposed reducing the review period for the minimum wage from five to three years. This decision followed extensive negotiations between the government and labor unions, culminating in a mutual agreement on the new wage.
