In a productive meeting, the Director General of SMEDAN, discussed with Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., the concerns of small businesses regarding their protection during the planned nationwide protest.
These concerns were gathered from the state managers and business membership organizations (BMOs) in an earlier meeting. They voiced fears about the potential impact of the protests on small businesses, particularly due to previous episodes of looting and vandalism that many SMEs are still struggling to recover from.

The IG gave assurance of adequate security measures to prevent disruptions and ensure peaceful demonstrations, while respecting the rights of all citizens.
“We remain committed to ongoing engagement with small businesses, cooperatives, and BMOs, working to provide support and prompt responses across all states and the FCT, in collaboration with other government agencies.”
