ABC Haulage, the heavy-duty trucking division of ABC Transport Plc, has expanded its capacity at Lafarge Africa’s cement factory with a fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered trucks. This addition represents a significant shift toward eco-friendly, sustainable transportation solutions.
ABC Transport, a trusted haulage partner for Lafarge Africa Plc since 2010, initially deployed flatbed trucks and later reinforced its fleet with bulk cement tankers, playing a key role in civil construction projects across Nigeria’s South-South and South Eastern regions.
The new CNG trucks not only increase capacity but also mark a step forward in reducing ABC Transport’s carbon footprint. “The adoption of CNG technology is crucial to our sustainability goals,” said Victor Nneji, Group Head for Innovation & Strategy at ABC Transport Plc. “Transitioning to cleaner, more efficient fuel sources allows us to operate more sustainably and contribute to a greener future for Nigeria’s logistics sector.”

CNG technology offers cost-saving benefits by reducing dependency on diesel, traditionally a significant operating expense. Additionally, ABC Transport is developing a modern truck yard equipped with maintenance facilities, advanced tracking systems, and staff accommodations. This facility will be strategically positioned along the new Lafarge evacuation road in Cross River State, enhancing both efficiency and environmental responsibility.
Jude Nneji, Managing Director of ABC Transport Plc, emphasized the impact of this investment, saying, “Expanding our capacity at the Lafarge cement factory by 250,000 tons strengthens our leadership in the logistics sector and aligns with global sustainability goals. This investment in CNG trucks and state-of-the-art infrastructure reflects our long-term growth strategy, delivering greater value to our shareholders.”
In collaboration with Lafarge Africa, ABC Transport has enhanced its driver training and certification programs to meet rigorous safety standards, supporting Lafarge Holcim Group’s mission for a safe work environment.
As a diversified logistics provider with services across passenger transport, haulage, and courier operations, ABC Transport Plc operates from over 76 locations in Nigeria, Benin, and Ghana. Listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, ABC Transport continues to set industry benchmarks in sustainable logistics and operational excellence.
