Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially inaugurated the Rivers State Council on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to address challenges faced by businesses in the state.
The inauguration, held in Port Harcourt, aligns with the administration’s goal of fostering human capital development and job creation.
Represented by Lawson Okuru, Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of the council in driving economic growth.
He noted that the initiative is part of his “Rivers First” agenda, focused on delivering democratic dividends, including job creation and enterprise support.

The council was charged with overcoming the barriers MSMEs face, ensuring that businesses thrive in Rivers State.
SMEDAN’s South-South Zonal Coordinator highlighted the essential role MSMEs play in global economic development and poverty reduction, stressing the need for an enabling environment for their growth.
Additionally, ITF’s Public Relations Officer, Ibeleogute Ibodeng, affirmed ITF’s commitment to equipping young entrepreneurs with critical skills to succeed in various industries, including agriculture, catering, and technology.
