Governor backs youth, boosts SMEs in Ondo

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to empowering youths across the state’s 18 local government areas, with a strategic focus on entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, and job creation.

Speaking at a youth stakeholder forum in Akure, Aiyedatiwa revealed that over 15,000 young people have already benefited from labour-intensive public workforce initiatives, while another 5,000 received nano grants to support their small businesses.

He also highlighted the launch of multiple youth skill acquisition centres under the One-Youth-One-Skill Scheme, designed to bolster self-reliance and stimulate SME growth in the state.

The governor emphasized the role of youth as key drivers of economic transformation and presented his 7-point development framework, “Our Ease,” targeting critical areas including infrastructure, education, technological advancement, healthcare, security, and power.

Acknowledging the support received from youths during the 2024 elections, Aiyedatiwa encouraged them to actively participate in the administration’s programs rather than engage in disruptive activities.

He stressed that sustainable development requires collective effort, urging young entrepreneurs to leverage the enabling environment being created to attract investment and build a prosperous future.

Senior Special Assistant on Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, Orioye Gbayisemore, praised the administration’s investment in education, youth employment, and enterprise support. He called on the youth to embrace the government’s vision and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic advancement of Ondo State.
