Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has initiated the distribution of over N4.6 billion in inputs and grants to support local farmers and IT startups.
The event, held at Michael Okpara Square, marks a significant advancement in his administration’s food security, industrialisation, and MSME initiatives.
Governor Mbah emphasized the crucial role of small-scale entrepreneurs in driving economic growth and highlighted the provision of essential resources to boost their development. As part of the initiative, 12,000 small-holder farmers will each receive a bag of fertiliser, courtesy of the Federal Government.
Additionally, 51 power tillers, valued at N2 million each, will be distributed to farmers across the state’s agricultural clusters.

Furthermore, 1,251 beneficiaries from all 17 local councils will receive agricultural inputs, including rice and bean seedlings, cassava stems, organic fertilisers, and herbicides.
The governor also unveiled a N1 billion support program for MSMEs, with a focus on women-owned enterprises, which will receive 80% of the funds. This initiative includes grants of N60,000 for over 16,000 beneficiaries, predominantly nano-enterprise owners.
The administration plans to enhance rural infrastructure to integrate farming clusters into a cohesive network.
