Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, received the prestigious National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Award from the Office of the Vice President on World MSME Day, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the sector in Enugu State.
Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, commended Mbah’s leadership in a statement on Friday. The award, presented during the National MSME Awards at Aso Presidential Villa, highlighted Mbah’s innovative approach to governance and technology integration in Enugu.
“Dr. Peter Mbah is revolutionizing leadership not just in Enugu State but across the South East,” Hadejia remarked. He praised Mbah’s recognition of MSMEs’ critical role in economic growth and job creation.

Accepting the award, Mbah emphasized the significance of MSMEs as the backbone of economic development and outlined his administration’s initiatives to support them. These include a one-billion-naira Venture Capital Fund, the Enugu SME Centre, and the Office of Digital Economy, aiming to upskill 40,000 youth annually.
Mbah highlighted additional efforts such as the Enugu State Fashion and Garment Hub, Enugu Skill Acquisition Masterclass, and support programs like the Enugu NG-CARES Programme and Transforming Nigeria Youth Programme. He also announced plans to position Enugu as a premier outsourcing destination.
“This award inspires us to continue our efforts in fostering a thriving environment for MSMEs,” Mbah stated, expressing gratitude to the Vice President’s office for the recognition.
