In a groundbreaking effort to boost sustainable livestock feeding, combat desertification, and create jobs, Gombe State has initiated collaboration with China’s Juncao Technology Development Center under the L-PRES and ACReSAL Projects.
The joint technical meeting, held Thursday at the L-PRES conference hall, aligns with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s vision of revamping the livestock sector.
According to Prof. U.B. Abubakar, L-PRES Project Coordinator, the partnership focuses on producing nutritious forage like Napier and Elephant grasses, which promote environmental protection and support livestock.

The collaboration, endorsed by the United Nations, aims to establish fodder banks and grazing colonies, helping to mitigate farmer-herder conflicts through cattle route resurveying. Additionally, Juncao Technology’s expertise in mushroom cultivation offers smallholder farmers alternative income sources.
This initiative highlights Gombe’s commitment to tackling environmental challenges, enhancing agricultural productivity, and fostering economic growth.
