The German government has expressed a strong interest in fostering economic cooperation with Enugu State, focusing on key sectors such as agriculture, energy, trade, and investment. This was disclosed by the German Consul General, Weert Börner, during a visit to Governor Peter Mbah at the Enugu State Government House on Sunday. Börner led a delegation that included members of the German business community and the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Highlighting the rationale behind selecting Enugu, Börner pointed out the state’s improved business environment under Governor Mbah’s administration. He noted that the German government has strategically decided to enhance its focus on specific states within Nigeria’s federal structure, with Enugu, Ogun, and Abia from the southern region being key targets. “We want to elevate our cooperation to a more intense level,” Börner remarked.

He assured the German delegation of the vast opportunities available in Enugu for investment in agriculture, energy, and trade.
