Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has urged Dr. Denis Otuaro, the new head of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, to prioritize educational scholarships within the initiative, particularly benefiting the youth in the Niger Delta region. The counsel came during Dr. Otuaro’s recent visit to Jonathan in Abuja, where discussions centered on revitalizing the program to further impact the region positively.

Jonathan emphasized the importance of redirecting the program’s focus back to the Niger Delta, advocating for increased exposure to the federal government’s initiatives in the area. He also stressed the significance of women’s empowerment as a crucial component for fostering lasting peace within the region.

Dr. Otuaro, expressing gratitude for the consultation with Jonathan, affirmed his commitment to maintaining the program’s original goals of promoting peace and development in the Niger Delta. He pledged to prioritize education, women’s empowerment, and peacebuilding efforts, aligning with the former president’s vision.

Assuring Jonathan of his dedication, Dr. Otuaro vowed to regularly engage respected elders in the region to ensure sustained peace, stability, and economic growth. Jonathan commended Otuaro’s approach and reiterated his support for initiatives aimed at fostering progress in the Niger Delta and the nation at large.
