These farms not only showcase advanced techniques and management practices for wheat cultivation but also serve as vital hubs for knowledge exchange and training. Dr. Sama’ila emphasized FMAN’s unwavering commitment to creating a robust market for wheat farmers nationwide, with plans to expand procurement activities across wheat-producing states.
The programme adopts a proactive approach, offering comprehensive farmer support services geared towards ensuring sustainable wheat production and increased yields per hectare. This strategic focus aims to position wheat as a competitive alternative to rice and other crops. Furthermore, FMAN encourages the establishment of demonstration farms in 15 states, providing farmers with essential training on Good Agronomic Practices.
Already, FMAN’s initiatives have successfully engaged 1,500 wheat farmers in cultivating 1,000 hectares of wheat in Kano, marking a significant stride towards reducing dependency on wheat imports and bolstering domestic production.
