Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is championing backyard farming as a pathway to food security and healthy living for Nigerian families.
In a recent meeting with the wives of state governors and the FCT, Tinubu shared her personal experience in home farming, highlighting the value of organic foods from her backyard.
She urged governors’ wives to spread the message, promoting home-grown food farming among citizens.

Through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), the First Lady announced a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture aimed at supporting home farming.
The collaboration includes the “Every Home a Garden” competition, with winners to be announced in December. Tinubu’s RHI has also launched other impactful programs such as scholarships, women and youth agricultural support, and the Young Farmers Club.
Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, reaffirmed his ministry’s support, underscoring the benefits of backyard farming in reducing inflation and easing market pressure.
