The Federal Government has enhanced livelihoods through its National Poverty Reduction and Growth Strategy (NPRGS), equipping Nigerians with income-generating skills.
Speaking at an evaluative workshop in Awka, Dr. Vitalis Obi, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, highlighted the programme’s impact.
Out of 500 trained beneficiaries in 2024, about 40 attended the workshop, reflecting on their experiences in soap making, confectionery, welding, agro-processing, and other trades.
Obi described the NPRGS as a strategic move to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within a decade. “Field evaluations show a 25–30% increase in crop yields, with over 60% of technical and vocational graduates securing employment,” he noted.
