Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Mike Igbokwe and Funke Agbor, have called for stronger public-private partnerships (PPPs) and investment in multimodal transport to boost Nigeria’s maritime industry.

Igbokwe highlighted the benefits of barging and enhanced rail links to support dry port operations and reduce logistics costs. He urged the government to adopt more PPP-driven solutions to lower the cost of goods nationwide.

Agbor, who is President of the Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA), stressed the importance of policy reform, regulatory oversight, and stakeholder engagement to unlock the sector’s full potential. She noted Nigeria’s strategic coastline as a key asset for economic growth.

Both experts spoke at the NMLA breakfast series, which aims to drive dialogue and collaboration in the maritime and blue economy space.
