The Federal Government has announced plans to recruit 37,000 youths into livestock farming as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential Initiative on Youths and Livestock Development.
Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, revealed this while hosting a delegation from Brazil’s JBS S.A. Executive Group.
He emphasized that the program targets young farmers passionate about livestock, offering training, capacity building, and access to financing and resources.
According to the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Ben Bem Goong, the initiative will engage 1,000 youths per state, including women, focusing on pasture cultivation and breeding. State governments will provide land, while the federal government will supply seedlings.

Brazil’s JBS S.A. has pledged to support the initiative by developing 200,000 ranches for beef production, with potential expansion across states. CEO Ricardo Lacerda assured further technical discussions to refine collaboration, provided adequate land is available.
