The Federal Ministry of Youths Development has teamed up with the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to launch a project aimed at empowering Nigerian youths by rolling out over 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles.
This was announced by Ayodele Olawande, Minister of State for Youth Development, during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.
Olawande revealed that the first phase of the initiative would begin on October 1, with the distribution of the tricycles, spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth in collaboration with the Presidential CNG initiative.
“By Tuesday, October 1, we will be launching the first phase of the project, distributing 2,000 tricycles in collaboration with the Presidential CNG, led by the Ministry of Youth,” Olawande stated.

The minister further highlighted the economic benefits of the initiative, which targets youth empowerment by reducing the cost of fuel consumption.
He explained that by the end of the year, CNG-powered tricycle operators, many of whom are young people, would only need to spend 20% of their current fuel costs on petrol.
“This will not only boost their profits but also contribute to lowering transportation costs for passengers,” Olawande added.
The initiative marks a significant step towards reducing fuel dependency, promoting green energy, and creating economic opportunities for Nigerian youths across the country.
