The Federal Government has announced that it will distribute 50 laptops each month to participants in its 3 Million Technical Training (3MTT) program.
This initiative was disclosed by Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, on Thursday as he announced the start of the learning phase for the 270,000 fellows selected for the program’s second cohort.
Dr. Tijani explained that the laptops will be awarded during the program’s monthly knowledge showcase, where fellows present what they have learned and demonstrate how they are applying their new skills. Additionally, the program will provide five MTN routers to participants every month as part of the ‘learning perks.’
Despite the second cohort officially beginning in March, the Minister clarified that the actual learning sessions are starting in mid-May. Dr. Tijani expressed gratitude to the fellows for their patience and assured them of a valuable learning journey ahead, highlighting the continued opportunities for engagement in the Learning Community for future cohorts.

The Minister also noted that a significant number of participants from the first cohort have secured internships across the country. Moreover, these fellows are now ready to engage in hackathons within their states, allowing them to collaborate, practice their skills, and develop solutions that showcase their expertise.
The 3MTT program, a vital component of the Renewed Hope agenda, aims to build a robust technical talent pool to support Nigeria’s digital economy and position the country as a net exporter of talent.
The program initially started with 30,000 participants, and the second cohort’s selection of 270,000 fellows marks progress towards the target of 3 million trainees.
To achieve its goals, the 3MTT program will be implemented in phases based on a framework developed in collaboration with government agencies, training providers, educational institutions, development agencies, and the private sector.
The training covers a range of skills, including Digital Marketing, Project Management Software, Cloud Platforms Navigation, Data Analysis and Visualization, SEO, CRM Management, Accounting Software, Graphics Design, and UX/UI Design, among others.
