Tinubu intends to create five million jobs for Nigerian youths through the N-Power program. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr
Betta Edu, the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, announced this on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
According to the minister, the N-Power scheme is part of a safety net program aimed to keep people out of poverty.
The minister made this claim just days after the FG terminated the scheme, which was part of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) inaugurated on June 26, 2016 by former President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle youth unemployment and promote social development.
However, with the new program, Edu emphasized that the N-Power plan would be first-come, first-served.
She stated that the initiative, as well as other government social intervention programs, are aimed at combating poverty in the country.

Hon Robinson Uwak, a former House of Representatives member, joined the chorus of observers who reacted to this event.
Hon Uwak stated that poverty alleviation programs should be viewed as a development policy rather than a charity initiative.
Meanwhile, Tinubu has announced a N25,000 salary increase for the average low-level worker for the next six months.
The president stated in his broadcast of the 63rd Independence Day speech that his administration is doing all possible to mitigate the impact of eliminating the fuel subsidy.
Tinubu also stated that his administration will broaden the social safety net by expanding the cash distribution program to 15 million poor households.
