In a bid to secure Nigeria’s power sector and strengthen economic growth, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has announced the Federal Government’s plan to explore alternative power sources.
The strategy, aimed at providing reliable backups for the National Grid, was revealed during a stakeholder meeting with Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) in Kano.
Adelabu highlighted the commitment to revitalize the electricity supply, specifically to drive industrial resurgence and economic stability.

He emphasized the need to modernize transmission infrastructure, particularly the Shiroro and Jos channels, to prevent frequent failures.
“The goal is to ensure readiness against issues like vandalism and grid collapse,” Adelabu stated, urging states to implement alternative power solutions while distribution companies focus on reliable services.
