The Federal Government has partnered with UNICEF through the Generation Unlimited (GenU) 9JA platform to combat youth unemployment, digital exclusion, and educational inequality across Nigeria.
Speaking on the initiative, UNICEF Representative Cristian Munduate Fall said GenU aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda by prioritising skills development, digital access, and employment for young people.
UNICEF Deputy Representative, Dr. Rownak Khan, described GenU 9JA as one of the organisation’s most successful youth empowerment programmes globally. “Nigeria has recorded some of the strongest youth impact results we’ve seen,” she noted.

The programme is anchored on three pillars: digital connectivity, skills-to-jobs pathways, and youth engagement each tailored to prepare young Nigerians for the demands of today’s workforce.
Since its launch in 2022, GenU 9JA has reached over 10 million youth, with 1,500 job placements already secured.
“To achieve our target of reaching 20 million young Nigerians by 2030, we need stronger coordination among partners and closer alignment with national policy,” said UNICEF Lagos Chief, Celine Lafoucriere.
