Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Goronyo, has announced a strategic partnership between the Federal Government and EGTA Investment Ltd.
This collaboration aims to advance food production and improve irrigation and dam infrastructure nationwide.
At a recent meeting in Abuja, Goronyo engaged with outgoing and incoming Egyptian Defence Attachés, Staff Brig.-Gen. Ahmed Ibrahim and Staff Col. Muhammad Ibrahim, along with Dr. Bashir Ibrahim, Group Managing Director of EGTA Investment Ltd., and other key stakeholders.

Goronyo underscored that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s food security agenda by enhancing irrigation systems and dam facilities.
He anticipates significant benefits, including job creation, economic expansion, and increased food output in the irrigated agriculture sector.
The minister advised that the memorandum of understanding be reviewed by legal experts to ensure land suitability and address any potential challenges.
Dr. Bashir Ibrahim of EGTA Investment Ltd. emphasized the importance of adopting affordable and efficient irrigation methods to support smallholder farmers.

Mrs. Oyeronke Oluniyi, Director of Irrigation and Drainage, highlighted the need for customized irrigation solutions, taking into account operational costs and farmer education for long-term sustainability.
She also pointed out the vital roles of Water Users Associations and the TRIMING Project in improving irrigation practices.
Mr. Ali Dallah, Director of Dams and Reservoirs, advocated for support of this partnership, noting that national dam infrastructure will be crucial for the success of new irrigation projects and overall agricultural development.
