In a bid to revolutionize maritime trade between Nigeria and China, the Federal Government, in collaboration with the Grimaldi Group, has facilitated the launch of the first-ever direct shipping service from Shanghai to Lagos.
This groundbreaking initiative addresses long-standing challenges faced by Nigerian importers, including delays caused by transshipment and high logistics costs.
Announcing the development in Lagos, Mr. Ascanio Russo, Managing Director of Grimaldi Agency Nigeria and PTML Terminal, highlighted the efficiency of the new service.

“This is the fastest transit time in the industry—no transshipment, no delays! Nigerian importers can now ship their goods with ease and confidence, knowing their cargo will arrive directly and on time,” he said.
The direct route reduces transit time to just 27 days, accommodating a variety of cargo, including containers, vehicles, heavy equipment, and project cargo.
By streamlining the shipping process, this initiative is set to transform Nigeria’s trade logistics and strengthen economic ties with China, offering businesses more reliable and cost-effective solutions.
