In a bid to rejuvenate Nigeria’s ailing cotton and textile sector, the Federal Government has teamed up with the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).
The collaboration was announced following a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, chaired by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima.
The initiative aims to strengthen all aspects of the cotton value chain, including farming, weaving, and ginning, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s industrialization agenda.
The partnership is expected to generate over 1.4 million jobs annually in the sector.
Vice President Shettima emphasized the need for a practical roadmap to revitalize the industry and urged stakeholders to focus on actionable strategies rather than mere discussions.
