The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has begun implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to suspend import duties on essential food items, aiming to lower food prices and support small businesses.
Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, announced the initiative on Monday, emphasizing its potential to alleviate the impact of global inflation on Nigeria.
Adeniyi revealed that new measures are being introduced nationwide to accelerate export procedures. These include the Advance Ruling Systems, Authorised Economic Operators (AEOs), and Time Release Studies, all designed to streamline trade and enhance economic opportunities.
