The Federal Government is set to launch a $1.5 million Artificial Intelligence (AI) fund aimed at enhancing the country’s tech ecosystem. The initiative, announced by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, will be officially unveiled on October 7 in Abuja.
The fund, backed by global foundation Luminate, comes as a response to criticisms of the earlier N100 million AI fund launched in partnership with Google, which was deemed inadequate by stakeholders. Dr. Tijani clarified that the new funding demonstrates the government’s commitment to fostering AI innovation in Nigeria by leveraging multiple international partnerships.
