The Federal Government, through the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has launched the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative, targeting 93,731 unemployed and unskilled Nigerians across the country.
Flagging off the initiative in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Friday, December 6, 2024, the NDE Director General, Silas Agara, represented by state coordinator Sanusi Akeem, emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to youth empowerment for economic growth.
The program, which selects 10 individuals from each political ward, focuses on vocational skills, small-scale enterprises, rural employment promotion, and public works. Beneficiaries, including women, school leavers, graduates, and persons with special needs, will receive training in 30 skill sets.

Agara disclosed that 40,000 participants would be trained in ICT and digital skills to enhance global competitiveness. After the training, many beneficiaries will receive tools, equipment, and startup capital, while others will be linked to credit institutions.
Commending the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, he noted their support in providing starter packs to beneficiaries, further boosting the initiative’s impact.
