The Federal Government has completed a specialised training programme on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and modern agricultural practices for youths, girls, and farmers across Nigeria.
Dr. Asabe Vilita-Bashir, Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD), announced the training’s completion in Abuja, highlighting its goal of promoting gender equality and innovation in agriculture.
Participants were introduced to emerging agricultural technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications like robotics, soil monitoring, and predictive analytics.
The training also covered ICT tools for market intelligence, weather forecasting, pest control, and digital farm record-keeping.

Vilita-Bashir emphasised that small-scale farmers face challenges meeting rising food demands, making technological adoption crucial.
She reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to empowering women and supporting participants beyond the training.
Mr. Johnson Morrison-Udobong, MBNCWD’s Director of ICT, urged trainees to share their knowledge with others.
Among the beneficiaries, 40 female farmers gained insights into AI-driven farming and ICT-based agricultural marketing.
Participants expressed gratitude for the initiative, pledging to leverage their new skills to enhance agricultural productivity and economic opportunities.
