The Federal Government has taken strides to empower 243 smallholder farmers in Edo State through a comprehensive package of inputs and capacity-building programs.
The initiative, part of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS), saw beneficiaries receiving an array of essential resources including poultry feeds, fish feeds, day-old chicks, maize and vegetable seeds, liquid fertilizers, and more.

The event, spearheaded by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Temitope Fadashemi, underscored the collaborative efforts between the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Dr. Owoicho Samuel, representing the Federal Ministry, emphasized that the program reflects a concerted government endeavor to combat poverty nationwide.
Stephen Idehenre, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Edo State, lauded the Federal Government’s initiative while urging for sustained support for farmers in the state.
Addressing the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Jane Ojo, a poultry farmer, Idehenre urged them to optimize the resources provided to enhance their agricultural output, promising to maximize the benefits of the empowerment program to elevate their livelihoods.
