The Federal Government has inaugurated a new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion centre in Gundutse, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State, aimed at fostering CNG adoption and training auto mechanics.
During the commissioning, Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, highlighted that the centre is part of a nationwide initiative to establish 21 CNG conversion centres. So far, 15 centres are fully equipped, with the remaining ones expected to be completed soon.

Osanipin encouraged trainees to embrace the opportunity to learn essential CNG conversion skills, stressing the need to meet the initiative’s objectives.
Engineer Magaji Sani, President of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), appealed to the federal government to provide soft loans for members to purchase tools required for engine assembly.
Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to job creation, especially for youth. She noted that the CNG centres reflect President Tinubu’s focus on easing the challenges caused by fuel subsidy removal and urged Kano residents to take advantage of the skills development program for economic empowerment.
