Explosion rocks Yobe livestock market after IED detonates

An explosion, believed to have been triggered by a planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED), occurred at the well-known Buni Yadi market in Yobe State’s Gujba Local Government Area. The market is situated 54 kilometers from Damaturu, the state’s capital.

The incident, reported by Channels Television, took place around 12:30 pm. Ali Hassan, a local resident, confirmed that a girl sustained injuries from the explosion.

Captain Muhammad Shehu, the spokesperson for Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, verified the occurrence, emphasizing that it was due to a planted IED and not a suicide bombing.

Shehu also mentioned that another IED was found in the market and was safely neutralized by the Army. The injured victim is currently receiving medical care at a health facility in Buni Yadi.
