The Enugu State Government has launched two major agricultural projects aimed at strengthening livestock production and expanding agro-export opportunities for SMEs and agripreneurs in the state.
Governor Peter Mbah, represented by Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, commissioned the new L-PRES Model Veterinary Hospital in Akwuke, Enugu South, describing it as vital infrastructure that will improve livestock health, strengthen disease surveillance, and raise safety standards required for global exports. He noted that as a major gateway for livestock movement into southern Nigeria, Enugu now has improved capacity to support national livestock logistics.
He also flagged off the Integrated Livestock Development Centre in Ubahu, Nkanu East—a flagship project designed to promote modern agribusiness, attract private investment, and lift citizens “from poverty to prosperity.”

Governor Mbah assured investors of a friendly business climate, announcing that the state has created an agricultural land bank of over 300,000 hectares and implemented reforms to de-risk agricultural investments.
He acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, the World Bank, and technical partners, noting that the new facilities will open fresh opportunities for small businesses across the livestock value chain.
“With this infrastructure, we are creating wealth, expanding opportunities, and positioning Enugu as a livestock and agro-export hub,” he said.
