Enugu State has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative aimed at uplifting the livelihoods of rural artisans and traders through comprehensive training and empowerment programs.
Spearheaded by the Commissioner for Labour, Employment, and Productivity, Chika Ugwuoke, the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to combat poverty and foster economic prosperity across the region.
Addressing journalists in Enugu, Ugwuoke emphasized the pivotal role of such programs in equipping artisans and rural entrepreneurs with the necessary skills to thrive in their respective businesses.
The initiative, supported by Governor Peter Mbah’s administration, seeks to not only alleviate poverty but also stimulate economic growth in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas.
Partnering with the Enterprise Development Centre wing of the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, the state aims to provide participants with tailored support and resources to enhance their businesses’ viability and sustainability.

By focusing on rural businesses as catalysts for economic advancement, the program aims to catalyze transformative change and foster inclusive development across Enugu’s three senatorial zones.
Urging artisans and business owners to actively engage with the initiative, Ugwuoke commended Governor Mbah for his unwavering support towards achieving the ministry’s mandate.
He highlighted the multifaceted approach adopted by the government, which includes digital and financial skills training for youths and targeted support for market traders.
