Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has unveiled a bold plan to generate over ₦100 billion through livestock production and processing. This initiative is aimed at boosting economic growth, improving animal husbandry, and strengthening the agricultural value chain within the state.
Governor Mbah made this announcement during a visit from the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) delegation, led by National Project Coordinator Sanusi Abubakar. The occasion also marked the launch of the Enugu Model Veterinary Hospital.

Mbah expressed excitement about the new veterinary hospital, which aligns with the state’s strategy to increase meat and dairy production for both local and international markets. He emphasized the potential of the Enugu State Ranch Management Agency Law to unlock economic opportunities, create jobs in the livestock sector, and boost the state’s GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.
Highlighting the state’s capacity to produce sufficient meat and dairy products for export, Mbah urged investors to explore opportunities offered by the new ranch law and the veterinary hospital. He assured that the state provides a secure environment for investments.
Abubakar, speaking on behalf of L-PRES, confirmed the delegation’s visit was to inspect and commence construction of the veterinary hospital, which will focus on disease surveillance, animal health, and vaccination.
