Mr. Akintunde Oyebode, Chairman of the state’s Palliatives Committee and Commissioner for Finance, stressed the transient difficulties that frequently go along with such important decisions as eliminating fuel subsidies. Speaking in Ado Ekiti, Commissioner Oyebode described the palliatives’ comprehensive nature, including both the formal and informal sectors in addition to providing for senior residents. He emphasized how quickly the governor had approved the committee’s recommendations, stressing how urgent it was to put them into action.

Further actions were described by Commissioner Oyebode, including conditional cash transfers to households, participation in the “Ulera Wa” Health Insurance Program, food distribution programs, support for farmers, help for start-ups, and assistance for small companies and the unorganized sector.
These significant initiatives were made possible by the increase in revenues brought on by the elimination of fuel subsidies, which was supported by the fiscal actions taken by President Bola Tinubu.
