The Edo State Government has launched the distribution of essential farm inputs and processing machinery to small-scale farmers across the seven local government areas in Edo South Senatorial District.
Under the auspices of the State FADAMA CARES Programme and the Federal Government’s Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises, Niger Delta (LIFE – ND) project, the distribution aims to fortify food production efforts.

During the kick-off of the distribution campaign, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Stephen Idehenre, emphasized the significance of the initiative in advancing the state’s agricultural goals. Represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Peter Osagie, Idehenre reiterated the government’s dedication to supporting farmers.
The distribution encompasses a wide array of inputs, including juvenile catfish, day-old chicks, poultry feeds, fish feeds, agricultural assets, and various processing machines such as cassava milling machines, rice processing machines, motorized sprayers, and grinding machines, among others.
John Omoruyi, the State Project Coordinator for IFAD LIFE-ND, highlighted the transformative impact of the input distribution on farm productivity and food security. Omoruyi underscored the project’s alignment with the Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda, emphasizing the focus on eco-friendly agricultural practices.
Echoing Omoruyi’s sentiments, Dr. Edward Izevbigie, Programme Manager of Edo ADP and State Coordinator for FADAMA CARES Programme, praised Governor Godwin Obaseki’s unwavering commitment to agriculture. Izevbigie credited the governor’s vision for fostering significant strides in the agricultural sector, laying the groundwork for continued progress.
