The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, expressed dismay yesterday over the surge in food prices and the manipulation tactics employed by market women at the Fresh Food Hub located in Alakara Idi-Oro, Lagos.
Report as it has that despite the government’s efforts to support vendors and provide them with free space to showcase their products, sellers have been exploiting buyers by inflating prices.

This revelation comes in the wake of the Lagos State government’s ambitious initiative, the Produce-4-Lagos scheme, which was launched in collaboration with Niger and Kwara states. The primary objective of this initiative is to address the existing food supply-demand disparities.
Despite these collaborative efforts, the prevailing situation at the Fresh Food Hub paints a stark picture of the challenges faced by both consumers and authorities in ensuring fair pricing and market transparency.
