The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria has endorsed the Federal Government’s intention to establish the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
It should be noted that President Bola Tinubu recently signed four Executive Orders including crucial fiscal policy measures such as the suspension of the 5% excise tax on telecommunication services and excise levies on domestically manufactured cars.
Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi, President of CITN, praised the initiatives and predicted that the committee’s mandate will increase revenue collection efficiency, promote openness, build a healthy tax culture, and encourage voluntary compliance.
He also advocated for open communication and participation of all stakeholders in the Nigerian tax system in order for the reforms to be comprehensive and meaningful.
Agbeluyi confirmed CITN’s determination to fully participate in the present reforms process, as it has always done.
He thanked Tinubu for naming CITN member Taiwo Oyedele as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
